A RUSSIAN politician made a desperate last-ditch bid to attract votes by claiming that he would make a good MP because he was getting advice from an extra-terrestrial civilisation.

Dmitrienko was running for a seat in Russia’s parliamentary elections that were held last Sunday on 18th September during which he represented opposition liberal-democratic party "Yabloko" which supports democratic values and opposes Putin's politics.
It shows Vasiliy Dmitrienko, a grey-haired man in glasses in his late sixties making what seems at first to be a rather boring speech.
He says: "Let's unite our efforts to develop the region. We will solve every problems with a new parliament"

Apparently, Yabloko party officials do not see any harm in having such a "talented" candidate among party members.
Igor Khovanskiy, chief of the regional branch of the Yabloko party said: "I do not think that clips like this could harm the party's reputation. He decided to build his election campaign this way to attract more supporters. I think this is a PR-stunt if you will. He is very adequate if we will not be taking into account his words about telepathy".
